About Us

Instructors + Smiles
Our instructors represent diverse backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to animal welfare and a talent for compassionate teaching.
Whether they are inspiring young students or guiding growth in juvenile justice settings, these experts lead with true sensitivity.
Through our Project PAWS program, we integrate skilled professionals who pivot from the corporate world to provide invaluable life skills for our youth, turning their unique life experiences into a foundation for student success.

Our Purpose
At Healing Species, we believe rescue dogs are some of the best teachers. Their stories of courage, patience, and second chances become living lessons in the classroom. Through guided activities, reflection, and real-time interactions with these dogs, kids, teens and adults practice everyday skills like empathy, self‑control, problem‑solving, and speaking up for themselves and others. Our goal is to turn what the dogs have survived into hope, healing, and practical tools participants can carry into every part of their lives.

The Teaching Dog
Our Pups
Our last count, we had introduced over 400 dogs to the Texas programs. Each of these special pups were selected for their ability to work with children, teens and adults. Many are no longer with us, but their impact on everyone they met has been profound and meaningful.
